Great Andamanese

Onge
Semi-nomadic tribe inhabiting Little Andaman Island. Known for their intricate body painting and unique spiritual beliefs connected to nature.
Jarawa
Hunter-gatherers living in the western parts of South and Middle Andaman. They have largely maintained their traditional way of life.
Sentinelese
The most isolated tribe in the world, inhabiting North Sentinel Island. They reject all contact with the outside world and are protected by law.
Shompen
Semi-nomadic tribe of Great Nicobar, living in the interior forests. They practice hunting, gathering, and primitive horticulture.
Nicobarese
The largest tribal group, predominantly Christian, known for their unique hut architecture and vibrant festivals. They practice horticulture and fishing.
Note: The indigenous tribes are protected under the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Protection of Aboriginal Tribes) Regulation, 1956. Tourism to tribal areas is strictly regulated to preserve their culture and way of life.
